CFC Fall 2020 FAQ

Q: If I am no long able to participate in the Virtual Group Fitness Classes due to illness, lack of internet access, or lack of adequate safe space to participate, will I get a refund for my membership?

     A: Yes, you will need to request a refund by e-mailing fitness@cornell.edu if you are a student or wellness@cornell.edu if you are a Wellness member, stating your reason for requesting a refund. You will be refunded the equivalent of the unused portion of your membership starting from the date we receive your request.

Q: What if I purchased a CFC Membership through the new student portal? Will I receive a refund?

     A: Yes. You will need to request a refund by e-mailing fitness@cornell.edu, stating your reason for requesting a refund. You will be refunded the equivalent of the unused portion of your membership starting from the date we receive your request.

Q: Can I switch my membership from a CFC Fall to a Virtual Fitness Classes membership?

     A: If you would like to switch your membership to the Virtual Fitness Classes Membership, you will need to send a request to fitness@cornell.edu so we can make that adjustment for you on the Bursar Bill.

Q: When will the Fitness Centers re-open?

     A: We are actively planning and preparing now, so that when have approval to re-open, we can do so as quickly as possible.

Q: When the fitness centers re-open, will all sites open or just one or two?

     A: The first location to open will be Helen Newman Hall. We will open additional fitness centers as quickly as possible, pending staffing availability.

Q: When the fitness centers re-open, will the capacity be changed?

     A: Yes. Capacity of the Fitness Centers will be adjusted to accommodate the recommended guidelines for social distancing in fitness facilities and the reduction of 33% of original capacity. (This is subject to change at any time.)

Q: When the fitness centers re-open, will the operation be the same as last year or can we expect a new way to use the facilities?

     A. Yes, due to required changes we have had to adapt our user model. Reservations will be required for all hours. Masks are mandatory in all indoor areas, especially during exercise.  There will be no towel service but you can bring your own for use during your workout. You will need to bring your own water as drinking fountains will not be operating for safety reasons. The locker rooms will only be open for access to the bathrooms. No showering will be allowed.

     A: Online content featured on CFC to Go: Fitness Anywhere You Are

     A: Rent tennis equipment from the Helen Newman Issue Room (with your ID card)

     A: Utilize outdoor venues* on campus for individual recreational activities with social distancing:

          -  Jessup Fields (North Campus) available after 5:00pm daily

          -  Alumni and Schoellkopf Fields (Central Campus) available throughout the day

          -  Simon Track (outdoors) in the Robert Kane Sports Complex (Central Campus) available 11am-1pm daily

               * Hours/location may need to be adjusted or changed for intercollegiate athletics schedules.
