Fast Facts

UPDATE, September 13, 2021:

  • All patrons of the CFCs must wear a mask during usage, including cardio equipment.
  • Masks may be pulled down to hydrate via water bottle or fountain, then must be immediately pulled back into place.
  • Members are expected to spray and clean equipment after use.
  • All equipment open.
  • Cleaning stations will remain for members use.
  • Spotting and working in will be allowed.
  • Locker rooms and showers are now open in HNH and Teagle.

Cornell Fitness Center FAQ's

Q: Will the Fitness Centers be open for Fall 2021?

A: The Fitness Centers are currently open. Students will need the appropriate membership to access the Fitness Center facilities and group fitness classes. Click on the link below to access the CFC hours of operation.

Q: Will Group Fitness be offered for Fall 2021?

A: Virtual Group Fitness Classes & In-Person Group Fitness Classes through CFC will be available beginning 8/23/21. Students must have a CFC Membership to participate in Virtual and In-Person Group Fitness Classes.  Faculty, Staff, Retirees, and Emeritus faculty must have a Recreation Membership to participate in Virtual and In-Person Group Fitness Classes.

Q: When and where will 2021-22 Student Memberships be available for purchase?

A: Student Fitness Center memberships can be purchased on the CFC Memberships Page.  Sale of Fall and academic year memberships will begin 8/13/21.

Information on memberships for Faculty, Staff, Retirees and Emeritus faculty can be found on the Wellness Program Memberships Page.

Q: Who will be allowed to use the fitness centers?

A: Cornell University Students who have purchased a Fitness Membership, and who are fully vaccinated or participating in surveillance testing (if applicable) are allowed to use the Fitness Centers.

Cornell Faculty, Staff, Retirees and Emeritus Faculty with Recreation Memberships through Cornell Wellness Program, and who are fully vaccinated or participating in surveillance testing (if applicable) are allowed to use the Fitness Centers.

Q: What is the current fitness center capacity?

A: The Fitness Center capacities are open at 80% of their maximum capacities, depending on the size of the facility. Assessment of limits will occur as COVID status on campus fluctuates.

Q: What do I need to know about operations before I use a fitness center?

A: Current operations are as follows:

  • All individuals must wear a mask and distance when possible, regardless of vaccination status.
  • Masks may only be pulled down to hydrate via water bottle or fountain, then immediately pulled back up into place.
  • Drinking fountains and water bottle fillers are available for member use.
  • There will be no fitness center towel service, but you can bring your own for use during your workout.
  • Shower towels are availalbe for check out to those with a qualifying membership or towel card.
  • The locker rooms will be open for access to the bathrooms, day use lockers (must maintain 6ft distance) and shower use.
  • Individual showers are available in Teagle & Helen Newman Locker Rooms.
