CFC Spring 2021 FAQ - February 24, 2021

Q: When will the Fitness Centers re-open?

     A: The Fitness Centers are now open with limited hours.  Additional hours will be added as staffing needs are met through March 8, 2021

Q: Will Group Fitness be offered for Spring 2021 Semester?

     A: Yes.  The Spring 2021 Session I Virtual Group Fitness Schedule will run from February 8-March 28, 2021.  A CFC Virtual Group Fitness Classes Membership or CFC Spring 2021 Membership is required to attend classes.

Q:  When and where will CFC Student Memberships be available for purchase?

     A:  Memberships for Virtual Fitness classes and the fitness centers are now available on the CFC Memberships Page

Q:  Who will be allowed to use the fitness centers?

     A:  Cornell University Students who have purchased a Spring Semester Fitness Membership, completing the Daily Check, and who are participating in surveillance testing will be allowed to use the fitness centers. 

          Cornell Faculty and Staff, along with Retirees/Emeritus and Spouses/Partners are currently not permitted to use the fitness centers at this time.  We apologize for this temporary restriction.  We will continue to update our website and social media platforms when we can extend access beyond our student membership population.

Q: When the fitness centers re-open, will the capacity be changed?

     A: Yes. Capacity of the Fitness Centers will be adjusted to accommodate the recommended guidelines for social distancing in fitness facilities and the reduction of 33% of original capacity. (This is subject to change at any time.)

Q: When the fitness centers re-open, will the operation be the same as last semester?

     A. Yes, due to required changes we have had to adapt our user model. Reservations will be required for all hours. Masks are mandatory in all indoor areas, especially during exercise.  There will be no towel service, but you can bring your own for use during your workout. You will need to bring your own water as drinking fountains will not be operating for safety reasons.  Water bottle filling stations will be available. Q: If I am no long able to participate in the Virtual Group Fitness Classes due to illness, lack of internet access, or lack of adequate safe space to participate, will I get a refund for my membership?

     A: Yes, you will need to request a refund by e-mailing if you are a student or if you are a Wellness member, stating your reason for requesting a refund. You will be refunded the equivalent of the unused portion of your membership starting from the date we receive your request.

          Wednesdays: Yoga - Slow Flow 6:15-7:00PM

     A: Rent tennis equipment from the Helen Newman Issue Room (with your ID card)

     A: Utilize outdoor venues* on campus for individual recreational activities with social distancing:

          -  Jessup Fields (North Campus) available after 5:00pm daily

          -  Alumni and Schoellkopf Fields (Central Campus) available throughout the day

     A: Experience the Botanical Gardens -

     A: Hike on the Cornell Nature Trails or Ithaca Trails
