  • All equipment open
  • Cleaning stations will remain for members use.
  • Spotting and working in will be allowed
  • Access facilities anytime thru out the day
  • Locker rooms and showers are now open in HNH and Teagle

Student Summer Fitness Center Memberships

Membership begins on June 1, 2021 and ends on August 15, 2021

All students will be required to:

  • Have a CFC Summer 2021 Membership
  • Complete and submit the Summer Survey
  • Enroll in IM Leagues to make reservations.  There is no cost to enroll in IM Leagues.

Q: Will the Fitness Centers be open for Summer 2021?

Q: Will Group Fitness be offered for Summer 2021?

     A: Yes. Virtual Group Fitness Classes & In-Person Group Fitness Classes through CFC will be available through August 13.  The tentative schedule for fall 2021 will be posted the week of July 19.   Students must have a CFC Summer Membership to participate in Virtual and In-Person Group Fitness Classes.  Faculty, Staff, Retirees and Emeritus faculty must have a Recreation Membership to participate in Virtual and In-Person Group Fitness Classes.  Class Schedule

Q:  When and where will CFC Summer Student Memberships be available for purchase?

     A: Student Summer Fitness Center memberships can be purchased on the CFC Memberships Page.  Single week or single month Summer Memberships for Students can be purchased Wednesday - Friday from 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM in 319 Helen Newman Hall.  Information on memberships for Faculty, Staff, Retirees and Emeritus faculty can be found on the Wellness Program Memberships Page.

Q:  Who will be allowed to use the fitness centers?

     A:  Cornell University Students who have purchased a Summer Fitness Membership, and who are participating in surveillance testing (if applicable) are allowed to use the Fitness Centers.

          Cornell Faculty, Staff, Retirees and Emeritus Faculty with Recreation Memberships through Cornell Wellness Program, and who are participating in surveillance testing (if applicable) are allowed to use the Fitness Centers.

          Spouses/Partners of Cornell affiliated persons are currently not permitted to use the fitness centers at this time.  We apologize for this temporary restriction.  We will continue to update our website and social media platforms when we can extend access to these groups.

Q: What is the current fitness center capacity?

     A: Beginning July 1, 2021 Fitness Center capacities increased to 50-70% of full capacity, depending on the size of the facility.

Q: What do I need to know about operations before I use a fitness center?

     A.  Capacities are still slightly reduced & reservations are no longer required.

          Individuals who are fully vaccinated (all shots and two week waiting period completed) are not required to wear masks. 

         Those who are not vaccinated are required to wear masks and maintain 6ft social distancing at all times.

         Drinking fountains and water bottle fillers are available for member use.

         There will be no fitness center towel service, but you can bring your own for use during your workout.  Shower towels are availalbe for check out to those with a qualifying membership or towel card.  The locker rooms will be open for access to the bathrooms, day use lockers (must maintain 6ft distance) and limited shower use.  Individual showers are avaialbe in Teagle & Helen Newman Locker Rooms.  Larger shower bay capacities:

        Teagle General Locker Room Showers: 2 individuals per shower bay

        Helen Newman General Locker Room Showers: 2 individuals per shower bay (women's) 1 individual in the shower bay (men's)

          - Kane Outdoor Track from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Monday-Friday
