Fast Facts

  • Cornell Fitness Centers are open to all members and operating at 100% capacity.
  • Cornell Fitness Centers is operating a rolling schedule with increasing hours through June 19.  Regular hours begin June 20. View facility hours
  • Fully vaccinated and boosted members are no longer required to wear a mask in the Fitness Centers.  Unvaccinated patrons must still wear a mask.  Cornell Mask Policy
  • Members are expected to clean equipment after use.
  • Spotting and working in is allowed.
  • Locker rooms and showers are open in HNH and Teagle.

Cornell Fitness Center FAQ's

Q: When and where will Summer 2022 Student Memberships be available for purchase?

A: Student Fitness Center memberships for Summer 2022 can be purchased on the CFC Memberships Page.  If you are a visiting student with a Cornell ID and cannot purchase your membership through the online portal because your ID is classified as 'Continuing Ed', you can come to 319 Helen Newman Hall to purchase your membership.  Hours are available at the bottom of the Fitness Centers website.

Q: Who is allowed to use the fitness centers?

A: Cornell University Students and their spouses/partners who have purchased a Fitness Membership and who are fully vaccinated/boosted may use the fitness centers.  Students who are not fully vaccinated and are participating in surveillance testing (if applicable) are allowed to use the Fitness Centers while wearing a mask and maintaining approprite distancing.

Cornell Faculty, Staff, Retirees, Emeritus Faculty & Spouses/Partners with Recreation Memberships through the Cornell Wellness Program, and who are fully vaccinated/boosted or participating in surveillance testing (if applicable) are allowed to use the Fitness Centers.

Q: What is the current fitness center capacity?

A: The Fitness Centers are currently operating at 100% capacity.  Assessment of capacities will occur as COVID-19 status on campus fluctuates.

Q: What do I need to know about operations before I use a fitness center?

A: Current operations are as follows:

  • Fully vaccinated and boosted members are no longer required to wear a mask in the Fitness Centers.
  • Drinking fountains and water bottle fillers are available for member use.
  • There will be no fitness center towel service, but you can bring your own for use during your workout.
  • Shower towels are availalbe for check out to those with a qualifying membership or towel card.
  • The locker rooms will be open for access to the bathrooms, day use lockers and shower use.
  • Individual showers are available in Teagle & Helen Newman Locker Rooms.
