Quick Notes:

  • Students, Employees, Retirees, and their spouses/partners are able to use the pools. 
  • Pool access is FREE for STUDENTS with valid ID.
  • Wellness Recreation Membership required for Employees, Retirees, and their spouses/partners.
  • All users must have their Cornell ID card with them to access the facility. ID cards will be self-swiped at the issue rooms to verify membership.
  • ALL LAP SWIMMERS MUST HAVE A POOL TAG AND SHOW IT TO THE GUARD ON DUTY. Pool tags (limited to 30 at a time) are obtained at the issue room windows.  
  • Everyone must shower off before entering the pool!

All swimmers must also follow these General Pool Rules.

Please note: Pool hours are subject to change. We try to post changes a week in advance, however, due to circumstances outside of our control, sometimes that is not possible. Please check this site frequently to view the most up-to-date hours of operation. Hours of operation are also posted outside HNH and Teagle Issue Room windows. General Information About The Pools:

  • The big pools (25 yards at HNH and Teagle) are treated with Bromine; the small pool at Teagle (20 yards) is Chlorine.
  • Approximate temperatures in degrees fahrenheit: Teagle large pool 78; Teagle small pool 80; Helen Newman Hall pool 82.
  • Equipment available for use during open lap swim: pull buoys & kickboards


Additional Notes: 

  • Hydro PT is for differently-abled swimmers, non-traditional lap swimming, and those needing physical therapy pool time. Hydro PT may also be done during any open lap time in lane 6 at HNH or lane 1 at Teagle (BYOE- bring your own equipment).
  • The pool stairs at HNH have been replaced with a new portable electric ADA lift. If you need assistance, please ask the lifeguard on duty.
  • If there are limited/ADV lanes, swimming is limited to advanced swimmers, who typically swim in the fastest two lanes.

  • Applicants must be currently certified in lifeguarding (every 2 years) and CPR/AED (every year) and attend Guard Tryouts (TBA).
  • Attend Informational Meeting on Thursday 9/1 from 4:30-5:30pm in the Teagle MPR.
