    "STAYING STRONG IN THE SECOND HALF". Why strength training is a necessity at any age and for all ages. Research in the last decade has revealed oerlooked, key roles muscle play in; controlling glucose levels, improving heart function, preventing mental decline and depression, reversing slowing metabolism, avoiding disability and more! Bring your questions for a lively educational session that could change your life, your spouse's or your close friend's life. Speaker bio: Doctor William Shang - Dr. Shang has been a flight surgeon, general practitioner, coroner's physician and local pathologist, before recognizing the need to be an advocate for exercise. At present, he is an author and serves a Laboratory Director for the student health centers of Cornell University and Ithaca College. Additionally, he is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine. Join him as he explains the importance of exercise and staying strong!

Learn to incorporate three significant food groups into your morning meal.Maximize your body’s energy and nutrition, before hitting the gym or taking a fitness class. Join Wellness director and Dietitian, Beth McKinney for breakfast, where you will be making breakfast burritos and make n' take oat jars, YUM!

    "Mindfulness Meditation". A form of meditation or induced relaxation that focuses awareness on breathing and encourages positive attitudes to achieve a healthy, balanced mental state. Come and learn the benefits of Mindfulness Meditation. Personally experience different styles of Mindfulness Meditation and how to incorporate these tools into your daily life, for better health and well being.     "Strong Bones: Things to Know". Attend this lecture to learn everything you ever wanted to know about bone density, and probably more. We’ll talk about what things you have control over when it comes to your bone health and simple steps you can take to help prevent bone fractures. Topics will also include what osteoporosis and osteopenia are and how these diagnoses are determined. Treatment options through medication, supplementation, and exercise will be discussed. In addition we’ll cover research discoveries and trends from the past six years. This lecture is beneficial for people of all ages and genders. Presented by Kerry Howell, MS, Cornell wellness staff.
