Destination Walk: Something Old, Something New – An Insider’s Tour of Goldwin Smith & Klarman Hall

Destination Walks include a 30 minute exercise walk followed by a 30 minute guided tour.

Walk Portion 12-12:30 PM: Meet Kerry Howell, Cornell Wellness staff, outside the front entrance (East Ave. entrance) to Klarman at 12:00. We’ll enjoy a 30 minute walking loop along a few sidewalks and walking paths, ending back at Klarman (East Ave. entrance) by 12:30 for the guided tour.
Guided Tour Description 12:30-1:00 PM:  On this tour, led by Henry Crans, manager of both facilities, he will talk and show us through Cornell’s oldest and newest humanities buildings. Entering Klarman you’ll be looking over the Gross Family Atrium, which offers some of the most cutting edge presentation capabilities. Then we’ll work our way down to the glassed in main atrium area with its revitalized Greek statues and proceed out through the new Temple of Zeus eatery. Next, it’s off to Goldwin Smith, the oldest of the humanities buildings, to view more Classics relics and statues along with a visit to the Dendro Chronology Lab to view a 3,000 year old red wood slab. Tour is limited to 20 people.
